are some words, that define the area where the nukkad natak’s (street plays) were to be performed, in Lalkaar’17. By the time our team reached the natak area, the street play teams of different colleges were on round, in the college campus- to spread the wave of their stupendous energy. And while doing so, bringing a good number of crowd to cheer the theatre artists.
The flawless decoration attracted everyone to stop by and appreciate the artwork done. Photo-frames were magnetic as they brought mostly everyone posing, for beautiful and lively photographs.
On 7th March’17, Mukhauta– the Street Play Society of Shaheed Rajguru College presented its Annual Street Play Event, Lalkaar’17 under Karvaan’17 the Annual Cultural Festival of Shaheed Rajguru College, Delhi University. The event received great participation from street play societies of the colleges across Delhi. The theatre connoisseurs in the meanwhile were fully involved with the creative performances on different themes by the street play societies.
The teams had brought forward themes such as Nationalism, Child Abuse, Wastage of Food, Dreams, to name a few. The very idea of street plays is to question the public and make them ponder about the surroundings after bringing present day scenario to life. The nukkad natak’s also become a medium of interaction with the soul, and that is what actually happened in Lalkaar’17.
The participant teams brought forward their themes to light without any fear or hesitation. This is also the very idea of theatre, i.e, to present the truth in the society! For instance, Natuve- the Street Play Society of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, did a very strong comeback after their play was objected for showing an intimate scene. At Artist Address, we show our full support to the performers for keeping good spirits- and believe that it is high time, that the truth be accepted and not put covers at!
Lalkaar’17 was a great success with overwhelming performances from some of the best Theatre societies in Delhi.
The results were announced for the winning teams. They are as follows:
First Prize- AAYAAM- The Dramatics Society Of MAIT
Second Prize- Navrang: The Theatre society of IHE
Third Prize- Buniyaad- The Dramatics Society of Vivekanand College
Best actor- Shivani (Navrang: The Dramatics Society of IHE)
We look forward to Lalkaar’18, and wish all the teams very best for the rest of the college festivals in this academic session.
